Cockroach Information

Signs You Have Cockroaches
Living in Your Kitchen

One of the more common places that cockroaches seek out in residential homes is the kitchen. You can easily learn how to identify the signs of a cockroach infestation before it spreads beyond your kitchen.

Cockroach infestations often start out in the kitchen. Those insects have access to both a food source and a water source. If you let the roaches live in your kitchen, you'll quickly find that the bugs spread to other areas, including your bathrooms and bedrooms.

Seeking Food and Water

Seeing cockroaches is often hard because the insects tend to only come out at night. If you work during regular business hours, you may never see those bugs. Turning on the lights late at night can help you see the roaches scurrying back to the safety of their hiding spots. Those spots often include spots under the sink and inside upper cabinets. You can also look for signs of destruction to dry goods like boxes of cereal or bags of rice.

Cockroach Droppings

We recommend that you check your kitchen for cockroach droppings. These droppings are dark black in color and fairly fine and small. Some even say that the droppings look like coffee grounds. If you rarely or never drink coffee at home, it's easy to see when you have cockroaches leaving behind their droppings. You can also keep your nose open to a foul or slightly musty odor. Cockroaches sometimes excrete an odor that smells like old moth balls.
This smell will become stronger as the infestation grows.

Do You Need Pest Control ?

Though some people think that they can deal with cockroach infestations on their own, they don't realize how quickly the problem can grow. At the first sign of an infestation, call for help. Even letting the roaches live in your kitchen for a few weeks can result in the roaches spreading throughout your home.
