Rats are often attracted to properties and gardens in search of food, and somewhere warm to live. Gardens often have bird feeders, composts, or bins which are an ideal and easy food source for a rat. Nearby deckings or sheds are also a perfect place to live in your garden.

Rats in the property is one of our biggest call out complaints, especially during the autumn and winter months when the weather is cold and wet, and the food supply is at a minimum. A good 70% of our rat jobs inside the property are often drain/sewer related. These can be caused by broken/defective drains which lead under properties, and rats have managed to break out of the sewer line and now have access to under flooring and cavity walls, which can lead to loft spaces. Apart from the danger to health. Many pests can also cause extensive structural damage, as well as an offensive odour.

We offer a full survey on our first visit, we will inspect internal and external areas for entry points, and give advisories how to stop it long term. Short term we can provide trapping or poisoning depending on which suits best for the job and customer, with multiple follow up visits until the problem is solved.

Our pest technicians are highly experienced, and are fully trained to RSPH level 2 in pest management, members of the Basis prompt scheme and all CRB checked.

How do we treat the problem?

The best approach is to prevent them in the first place, which is why we focus on proactive measures. However, this is not always possible and in which case we need to provide treatment and control measures. 

How we treat the pest problem depends on the pest and the environment in which they are found. Our focus is always on minimising the risk to non-target animals, while dealing with the primary problem. 

After receiving the call out, we would assess the risk onsite and deal with it using a method that provides the least amount of distress to the animal. 

Treatment can include:

Removal of animal or habitat, trapping, rodenticides, insecticide spray or dust, proofing with spikes or nets, shooting or fencing out to name a few. We would discuss the options available and agree to the best way forward.

With many pests, treating the problem once doesn’t necessarily get rid of the issue in the longer term. 

Following on from a treatment we would always recommend preventative care solutions for you to implement, minimising your risk in future.
